The Way I Work

My background is rooted in psychodynamic thinking; however, I utilize an eclectic approach.

This means that we are affected by our pasts, childhoods, and families, and these relationships and experiences.

I help clients develop strategies to deal with the overwhelming feelings they might be experiencing and to think of different ways to manage challenging situations and emotions.

I very much value the therapeutic relationship. It means that my work is rooted in building our relationship – we may be client and therapist, but I see us as partners in this work. The therapeutic alliance/relationship is what helps propel clients forward. I understand the “right fit” of a therapist is very important.

My practice is focused on helping people examine patterns in relationships and deal with stressors by building upon one’s strengths to develop strategies that help manage these stressors, and help improve relationships.

I work with people who have experienced trauma, grief/loss, loss of a relationship or a loved one, family stress (past and/or current), difficulties regulating emotions, and not feeling heard or getting your needs met in a relationship.

We will work together to identify patterns that you feel may be holding you back.

The ultimate goal of my work is to help individuals and couples build and cultivate security in themselves and experience an overall greater sense of fulfillment in their lives and in their relationships.

I meet with clients at least once per week, and my work ranges from short-term to long-term treatment, depending on the client’s needs and goals.
